SUMMARY

CIRCULARlakes is a project focused on developing and implementing innovative circular economy solutions in lake areas facing significant pressure from tourism. The project is being implemented in the areas of Lake Skadar in Montenegro, Lake Jablanica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Baćina Lakes in Croatia, with the aim of improving waste management, promoting more efficient use of resources, and protecting valuable lake ecosystems. A particular focus is placed on developing models that respond to the needs of local communities and contribute to more sustainable tourism development.

Through the project, circular economy models tailored to lake destinations will be developed and tested, pilot activities will be implemented, and local stakeholders will be empowered to apply these models through education and knowledge exchange. The project will also explore the potential of using artificial intelligence in planning and improving circular practices, thereby contributing to reducing the negative environmental impacts of waste, preserving natural resources, and creating new opportunities for sustainable local development and responsible tourism.
